Ellen Werner  

Chief Financial Officer                                                                          

Ms. Werner joined the Mid-Hudson Family Health Institute in 2001 as Chief Financial Officer. 

She is responsible for the Finance Department and for all financial functions within the Business Office.  

Prior to her joining the Institute, she served in a like capacity as CFO of a management services organization, directing the overall financial functions of the organization and its client companies. 

Ellen holds a Masters Degree from the University of Arizona and is a Certified Financial Planner. 

 

Bruce Mesches, MSW, MHSA  

Chief Operating Officer                                            

Mr. Mesches joined the Institute in 1990 as a full-time social worker and continued his education in order to obtain his masters degree in Health Services Administration.  He now holds the position of Chief Operating Officer, responsible for operations at the Institutes seven different health centers.

 

Carol Bouton

Chief of Business & Management Development

Ms. Bouton is responsible for the entire fiscal and business operations of the institute.  Ms. Bouton and her staff oversee the financial systems of all seven outpatient sites of the Institute as well as inpatient activity.  These include budget development and monitoring, managed care contracting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and ongoing training of clinical staff in optimal coding practices.

 

Craig Mesches, BSCE

Chief Information Officer

With the rapid growth of the organization, the Institute developed an Information’ Technology Department in 1989 and brought on board Mr. Mesches, who holds a degree in computer engineering, to automate its operations. He and his staff have developed on-line billing and scheduling operations throughout all of the Institute health centers. as well as the implementation of a computerized system for tracking and documenting resident clinical experience in both the in and outpatient settings. This process is extremely valuable to our graduates when applying for attending hospital privileges.    Additionally, as patient insurance requirements and federal mandates have become more onerous Mr. Mesches and his staff have been evaluating technology solutions to assist in continuing to provide high quality patient services throughout the Institute.

 

Anne Barnhart

Director of Specialty Services & Adm. Medical Staff Affairs           

Ms. Barnhart has been with the Institute's family practice residency program since its inception in 1978.  She has advanced in the organization from Residency Coordinator to Administrator of Medical Staff Affairs over the past fifteen years.  She is credited with assisting Drs. Mesches and Burg in the initial establishment of the residency program and continues to maintain responsibility for coordination of resident activities.  In recent years, Ms. Barnhart has played an integral role in the development and implementation of the Institute's credentialing process, which was established under the guidelines of the National Committee of Quality Assurance.  Ms. Barnhart also holds the position of Coordinator of Specialty Services; facilitating the integration of local specialty services into the Institutes Primary Care Centers.  

 

Lori Karol

 Director of Human Resources                                                                                   

Ms. Karol has been with the Institute since 1991.  She first worked in the billing department as a patient account representative and then moved into the position as Business Office Manager.  As the Institute has grown, Ms. Karol has balanced her business expertise with her previous experience in personnel services to become the Director of Human Resources.

 

Carol Brunner, RN

 Quality Assurance and Risk Management Coordinator                   

Ms. Brunner started with the residency program in 1979 as the Head Nurse of the Kingston Family Practice Center.  Since that time, she has advanced through the system in the positions of Coordinator of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing and currently holds the position of Quality Assurance and Risk Management Coordinator.  In this capacity, she assists in the establishment and refining of quality assurance policies and procedures, continued monitoring of QA and Risk Management issues and assures compliance with all state and federal regulatory agencies.
