Diane Hauser coordinates clinical and policy research activities at the Institute. She manages research grants and the Institute's Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Subjects. During her twelve years with the Institute, Ms. Hauser has been involved in numerous research and policy projects related to the health professions education workforce, racial and ethnic disparities in health care, and health information technology. Ms. Hauser and Dr. Neil Calman recently completed a federal study on the characteristics and distribution of the national physician workforce, with a focus on underserved areas. Ms. Hauser is currently working on research related to the use of electronic health records.
Ms. Hauser previously served as the executive director of the New York State Council on Graduate Medical Education. In this capacity, she provided policy guidance and data analysis for the governor-appointed advisory group on issues related to physician workforce, education, and training. She has also served as research director at the Public Health Foundation, based in Washington, D.C., and as a research associate at the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging.
